The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect. In a separate operation in Abia State, police operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested two suspects — Blessing Emebo, 49, and Sunday Emebo, 42 — for allegedly operating an illegal motherless babies’ home out of their residential apartment on Ikot Ekpene Road, Aba. Investigations revealed that the children originated from different villages in the Arochukwu area. The rescued children have been handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs for care and rehabilitation, while the suspects remain in custody pending further investigation and prosecution. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, lauded the efforts of the operatives involved in both operations and reiterated the Force’s commitment to ensuring public safety, eliminating illegal arms, and protecting vulnerable members of society. He also urged citizens to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities, especially regarding child safety and trafficking concerns.
