A big ram sells for an average of N700,000 as against N350,000 early this year, indicating a 100 percent price rise on a year-to-date basis.In Nigeria the Prices of rams have surged by 100% nationwide ahead of Eid-el-Kabir, with traders blaming Niger’s livestock export ban and high demand. A large ram now costs  ₦700,000 up from what was obtainable in January. Meanwhile smaller ones sell for ₦250,000  compare to previously ₦165,000. Nigeria’s reliance on imports from Niger, Mali, and Chad due to local insecurity has worsened the shortage as demand rise\'s.
