A senior commander of the Akhmat Special Forces, a unit under Russia’s Ministry of Defense, has been killed in action, Ukrainian military sources have confirmed.
The slain commander, identified by the callsign “Amur,” led a Kadyrovite unit specializing in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations. His death was confirmed by the commander of the Akhmat unit, Apti Alaudinov, who posted a tribute stating, “A commander who has passed away! The commander of the UAV heavenly forces with the call sign ‘Amur’. Rest in peace, brother. To be a warrior is to live forever.”
The Akhmat Special Forces, affiliated with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, are known for their involvement in several fronts of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. “Amur” reportedly oversaw a range of sophisticated drone operations, including the deployment of FPV drones, fiber-optic drones, the Molniya-2 kamikaze drones, and Supercam reconnaissance UAVs.
While exact details surrounding his elimination remain undisclosed, Ukrainian Defense Forces are credited with the successful operation that led to his demise.
The loss of such a high-ranking drone warfare specialist marks a significant blow to Russia\'s tactical capabilities in the use of unmanned systems, especially in reconnaissance and precision strikes.
