The Nigeria Police Force has strongly condemned the conduct of some of its officers caught on camera receiving money from a Chinese national, labeling the act as \"unprofessional and unethical.\"
The incident, which surfaced in a viral video circulating on social media, sparked outrage among Nigerians who questioned the integrity of law enforcement officers.
Reacting to the video, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Thursday, April 17, assured the public that the officers involved have been identified and are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures.
\"The Nigeria Police Force has taken cognizance of a disturbing video making rounds in the media space, showing police officers receiving money from a Chinese national. The Force has strongly condemned the conduct exhibited by the police officers in the video, describing it as unprofessional and unethical,\" the statement read.
Adejobi stressed that the actions of the officers do not reflect the values or standards of the Nigeria Police, which prides itself on integrity, professionalism, and service.
\"The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behaviour and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence,\" he added.
The statement also warned individuals and organizations who engage the services of police officers—whether as escorts, guards, or for other specialized functions—to avoid acts that degrade the integrity of the Force.
