says early campaigners will be shown the way out

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has sent a strong message to political appointees nursing early ambitions—focus on governance or find the exit door!

Speaking during the 162nd State Executive Council meeting held Tuesday at Government House, Yenagoa, the governor made it crystal clear that any appointee caught jumping the gun with political campaigns before INEC’s official green light will be promptly relieved of their duties.

\"This is a time for governance,\" Diri stressed. “We’ve started hearing radio statements about who wants to be what. That’s not acceptable. If you want to beat the political drum now, please resign.”

In classic no-nonsense style, Governor Diri emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remains the only authority empowered to issue political campaign timelines, not radio stations or political hype-men.

He concluded with a stern warning: “Going forward, any appointee who engages in premature political activity and it comes to my notice will be sacked.”
