Since Israel maintains that it did not initiate the Gaza war and justified its stance as defense against future aggression from a sworn enemy, the Israeli authority views Gaza as a malignant tumor that necessitates sanitization. Those who support Israel may assert that they stand with humanity, given that Hamas is designated a bloodthirsty terrorist organization that boasts of its intention to exterminate every Jew globally.
The intensity of the strike on that fateful day, when Hamas slaughtered 1,000 civilians and kidnapped 200 innocent people with great strategy, underscores the imperative of Israel\'s forceful response. Had Israel not reacted decisively, Hamas would have repeated the same actions in a few years. War is not a trivial matter when the opposing side fights back.
Given the present realities of the war, Gaza now appears to be the victim. Israel argues that once it withdraws, Hamas will resume its actions. This creates a cynical cycle masquerading as moral confusion.
The Gaza war transcended a mere military conflict to become a profound and all-encompassing test. In this trial, humanity, in all its forms, was put to the test. Hamas, through its self-inflicted injury, transformed Gaza into a battlefield of destruction, revealing a mirror that exposed the flaws behind the claimed values of freedom, justice, dignity, and the right to life and sanctity of life. Individuals, society, and alliances were all tested in Gaza, resulting in the collapse of grand claims. International organizations appeared powerless and complicit.
The war in Gaza has divided the world into two camps based on alliances. While the massacres in Gaza have broken hearts, they have also awakened awareness, stirred conscience, and reminded us of the virtue of pursuing and maintaining peace. Peace is priceless, and terror is senseless, coming with a heavy cost.
Netanyahu has stated that Israel\'s objectives are \'to accomplish all of Israel\'s war goals, including the release of all our hostages, destroy Hamas\'s military and governance capabilities, and ensure that Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel.\' He has also set the implementation of Trump\'s Gaza relocation plan as a new condition for ending the war and accused Hamas of systematically looting food aid, which Hamas denies.
The United Nations has declared that it will not participate in a US-backed operation, describing the plan as lacking impartiality, neutrality, and independence. If executed, entrusting aid provision to private military contractors would create a dangerous precedent, blurring the lines between humanitarian relief and military force and putting humanitarians at risk everywhere. The costs of security and the logistics of this new and unnecessary approach would also far exceed the value of the aid itself.
At this critical juncture, perhaps even just one further year of delay risks the possibility of having no land and no people left to recognize in Gaza.
