A vigilant Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officer, identified as Prince Orji Ugochukwu—popularly known on Facebook as Okeosisi Ugo—has narrated how he apprehended a suspected kidnapper and ritualist, one Ezeani, also known by his aliases Ichie Billion and E Dey Play E Dey Show, while attempting to flee through the Seme border along the Lagos-Badagry expressway.
The arrest, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, has since gone viral after Prince Orji shared details of the dramatic incident on social media.
According to his account, Officer Orji was manning his checkpoint at Gbaji, along the Seme road, when he spotted a man on a commercial motorcycle who matched the viral image of a wanted suspect. The officer immediately attempted to stop the bike, but the rider reportedly ignored the directive and sped off.
“I quickly jumped on another bike and pursued him,” Orji wrote. “I caught up with him at the next immigration checkpoint ahead and ordered the bike to turn back. This time, I entered the bike with him to ensure he did not escape.”
During the return journey to the Gbaji checkpoint, the suspect, realizing he had been identified, allegedly attempted to bribe Officer Orji.
“He offered me ₦10 million, claiming he was innocent and that people had set him up because it was his turn to become the Igwe of their community. He also tried to give me his iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Tecno Camon 19, claiming the iPhone alone was worth over a million naira,” the officer stated.
Despite the repeated offers, Officer Orji refused all bribes and remained resolute.
“I brought out my phone and showed him the viral photos of himself linked to the crimes. At first, he claimed the person in the picture was his brother. But I stood my ground, returned with him to the checkpoint, and sent a signal to my command.”
Upon confirmation from the Seme Border Patrol Command that the suspect was indeed Ezeani, the officer placed him in handcuffs and transported him to the command’s headquarters for further investigation.
The suspect\'s alleged criminal activities, which include kidnapping and ritual practices, have been widely circulated on social media platforms in recent weeks, prompting a manhunt by law enforcement agencies.
In his statement, Officer Orji noted that some of his colleagues were initially skeptical about the suspect’s identity. “Nobody recognized him except me,” he said, underscoring the importance of vigilance and personal initiative in border security operations.
The Nigeria Immigration Service has yet to release an official statement on the arrest, but sources say the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
