President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a massive N120 billion support package for the establishment of a 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone in Gombe State, in a bold move to boost Nigeria’s agricultural economy and food security.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya made the announcement today during the groundbreaking ceremony of the project in Gombe, confirming that the state has already received N60 billion as the first tranche of the Federal Government’s support.

According to Governor Yahaya, the agro-industrial zone is set to revolutionize food production, processing, and trade, and will serve as a model for integrated agricultural development in Northern Nigeria.

Key features of the 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone include:

An ultramodern abattoir

An international livestock market

A world-class grains market

A leather processing and tannery complex

An inland dry port to link Gombe’s agricultural products to markets across Nigeria and beyond

 

The ambitious initiative is expected to generate thousands of jobs, empower agro-entrepreneurs, and strengthen food security, while positioning Gombe as a regional hub for animal processing and agricultural trade.

Governor Yahaya praised President Tinubu’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and lauded the Federal Government’s investment in Gombe’s agro-industrial vision.

Prototypes of the planned zone were unveiled at the ceremony, showcasing a future of modern agricultural infrastructure and sustainable economic development for the region.
