Suicide Bomber Attacks Borno Market, Kills 10, Injures Others
A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a crowded fish market in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday night, killing at least 10 civilians and injuring seven others.
The deadly blast occurred at the popular evening market, which typically attracts hundreds of local traders and residents.
According to security sources, the attacker disguised as a civilian and mingled with the crowd before detonating the explosive device. The suicide bomber was also killed in the blast.
“The Nigerian Army troops and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene, and the injured victims were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment,” said a security official, Makama.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as the explosion rocked the busy market. Victims lay motionless, others cried for help, and smoke filled the air, further amplifying the terror and confusion.
The attack occurred during peak commercial hours, adding to the devastation.
Military personnel have since cordoned off the area to prevent any further attacks or infiltration by suspected terrorists.
