A viral photo claiming that Senator Adams Oshiomhole received an award in 1986 as the “2nd Best Tailor in Kaduna” has been debunked by Kingsley Nna Okadigbo, a respected Ndoki-Ijaw activist and public affairs commentator.
Okadigbo, who served as National Mobilisation Officer II in the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), stated that the photo was actually taken in 2000, not 1986, during an event at Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
At the time, Comrade Philip Shaibu was the NANS President, while Oshiomhole was President of the Nigeria Textile Workers Union, shortly before becoming NLC President.
“The award was part of a broader recognition given to labour and student leaders in 2001,” Okadigbo clarified. “I was present at the event. This viral ‘tailor’ caption is false and misleading.”
Okadigbo, who hails from the Ndoki-Ijaw ethnic group, served as Senior Special Assistant to former Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, on Niger Delta Affairs.
He called on the public to refrain from spreading misinformation, emphasizing the importance of accurate historical records.
