The Federal Government has unveiled plans to distribute five million Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders to households across Nigeria by 2030. Speaking in Sokoto during the North West launch of the Grassroots LPG Penetration Programme, Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, said the initiative aims to convert one million homes annually to cleaner, safer cooking methods.
Ekpo emphasized that the programme goes beyond gas distribution, with benefits including improved public health, job creation, environmental protection, and economic empowerment. Already launched in other zones, the scheme targets underserved communities and is backed by the Decade of Gas Secretariat and corporate sponsors like BUA Group.
