The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the detention of Corporal Rasaq Mumuni of the 4th Police Mobile Force following the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Amani Mubarak during a dispute at Abuja Leather Company along Ajetiroad in Komu.

The incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, when the officer was called to intervene in an altercation. According to police sources, an attempt to disarm the officer led to the accidental discharge of his firearm, with the bullet striking Mubarak in the buttock.

The victim was rushed to Baptist Medical Centre, Saki, but died the following evening, June 30, while receiving treatment. The police have launched a full investigation and confirmed the officer is in custody pending the outcome.
