Following the gruesome killing of 10 persons in Ogboji, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State, Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Tuesday led a joint security investigative team to the crime scene and confirmed the arrest of a suspect, Sunday Mbanu, who is currently assisting with investigations.

The Police reiterated that the incident was not an ethnically targeted attack, but a cowardly act by enemies of the state, possibly linked to a leadership crisis within the Ebonyi indigenes’ association in the area.

Community stakeholders, including the Traditional Prime Minister and President General of Ogboji, disclosed that the victims were attending a factional meeting related to the internal crisis, which had earlier been reported through local channels rather than security agencies.

The police assured the public of a thorough investigation and vowed to bring all perpetrators to justice.
