Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has died just weeks after surviving a ghastly accident in Auchi, Edo State.

The family announced her passing on Sunday in a statement signed by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, confirming that Ruth died at about 6:30 a.m. “With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025, at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.

They appealed for privacy as they grieve, adding that details of her funeral will be communicated in due course.

Ruth’s death comes barely two weeks after a tragic accident near Auchi Polytechnic on August 13, 2025, where she was hit by a Dangote Group truck. The crash left her with severe injuries that led to the amputation of her leg. The incident occurred just six days after Ruth had graduated from Auchi Polytechnic.
