Lagos State has recorded progress in its urban transportation drive with the successful operation of its monorail system, now serving commuters in the state.

In contrast, the Rivers State monorail project, once conceived with similar ambition, has been left incomplete and abandoned. Initially welcomed by residents, the project later came under criticism and was eventually discontinued.

The abandoned structures, which were expected to boost intra-city transport in Port Harcourt, have now deteriorated and are reportedly being dismantled for scrap. The development has sparked discussions on project continuity, accountability, and the management of public resources.
