THE LEOPARDS OF DR CONGO CLIPS THE WINGS OF NIGERA SUPER EAGLES

Nigeria will be missing out in 2026 Fifa World Cup after a 4-3 defeat by DR Congo on penalties after fulltime 1-1 draw in the African play-off final on Sunday.

The match was a fierce battle as Nigeria took early lead with Frank Onyeka’s deflected strike, but Meschak Elia equalised after 30 minutes to close the scoring window before the penalty knock out.
Victor Osimhen the Nigeria\'s standout player through out the qualifying campaign with a scoring record of 8 goals in 7 matches, was not able to convert his chances into goals. Rather he limped off the field due to injury and did not return for the second half.
While the Leopards secured their bid , Nigera Super Eagles lost out for the second successive edition of the World Cup due to poor performance and lack of motivation.
The resilient performance of DR Congo at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, position them for a final intercontinental qualifier which will be held next March.
