Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday swore in five new commissioners and charged them to deliver top performance in advancing the development agenda of Rivers State.

The newly inaugurated members of the State Executive Council are Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Prof. Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House in Port Harcourt after their screening and confirmation by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Congratulating the appointees, the governor said their clearance by the Assembly after what he described as a rigorous screening process showed they possessed the competence required for the task ahead.

He noted that the detailed scrutiny by lawmakers had already served as an orientation for the commissioners, expressing confidence that they were ready to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

“Ordinarily, I should charge you on your responsibilities and how to operate, but that has been taken care of by the screening at the Assembly,” Fubara said.

The governor stressed that those who emerged successful from the exercise had demonstrated their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s development drive.

He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working diligently to accelerate progress across the state.

Fubara added that his administration expects nothing short of excellent service from the new commissioners as part of efforts to place the state on a faster path of growth and development.
