Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has issued a firm directive to security commanders to ensure the safe and immediate release of Justice Ebieyerin Omukoro, a High Court judge abducted by armed men in Yenagoa on Saturday.

Speaking in Sagbama during his ongoing local government thank-you tour, Governor Diri condemned the abduction and warned criminal elements that their actions would not go unpunished. He disclosed that CCTV footage had captured the incident and assured that investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.

\"From the minute I was informed of the high-profile kidnap, I summoned security commanders and directed them to ensure the judge comes out alive and unharmed,\" Diri said, emphasizing the state’s recent investments in surveillance and security infrastructure.

He warned those involved to surrender, saying, “You cannot terrorize and intimidate your own people.”

The governor also used the occasion to appreciate Sagbama residents for their overwhelming support in the last governorship election and urged continued unity and vigilance within the Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
