The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with alleged multiple murders in the state and declared a businessman wanted as investigations deepen.
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
Jimoh said the arrests followed renewed, discreet investigations into two high-profile killings recorded in 2023 and 2024 in the Eti-Osa axis of Lagos State.
According to him, the two suspects—identified as Fabo and Bariga—were apprehended after fresh investigative efforts aimed at resolving the long-standing cases.
He said both suspects allegedly confessed to participating in the killings of Mr Sheriff Salami Ishola and Prince Ademola Akinloye.
The police commissioner explained that Ishola was murdered on April 18, 2023, after being dragged into an abandoned building along Mobile Road in the Ajah area, where he was reportedly shot at close range.
He added that in a similar attack on August 26, 2024, Prince Ademola Akinloye, son of the Ojomu of Ajiran Land, Oba Adetunji Akinloye, was shot dead along Chevron Drive.
“The same gang carried out both attacks using similar operational methods,” Jimoh said.
He further revealed that the suspects implicated a 38-year-old businessman as the alleged sponsor of the killings.
“They confessed to receiving ₦2 million for the first killing, paid in instalments, and were promised further benefits, including assistance to travel abroad,” the commissioner stated.
Jimoh said the businessman has now been declared wanted in connection with the two murder cases.
“He is currently at large. Wherever he may be, he is advised to surrender himself at the nearest police station,” he said, urging members of the public to provide useful information that could aid his arrest.
The commissioner noted that the crimes occurred before his assumption of office but were reopened following persistent petitions and public complaints demanding justice for the victims.
He assured residents that the command would leave no stone unturned in tracking down other fleeing suspects and ensuring that everyone involved is brought to justice.
Jimoh reiterated the police command’s commitment to public safety and the sustained fight against violent crime across Lagos State.
