Prominent Labour leader and two time State Chairman Rivers State Civil Union Comrade Ambassador Opu-oyibo Lilly-West has praised Rivers workers on their low key Workers Day celebration due to the suspension of the Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara and appointment of sole administrator, describing the decision of the workers as welcome development
Lilly-West who is also the Director General of a NON Governmental Organisation - Rivers Solidarity For Good Governance, made the statement while speaking with newsmen in Portharcourt
According to Lilly-West his organisation, the Rivers Solidarity for Good Governance stands firm with the workers in their decision because the condition of the average Rivers workers continue to worsen under the present sole administrator, and there\\\'s no way the workers will be happy to celebrate Workers Day under such unfavourable workers situation to give undue credit to the Sole Administrator whose appointment was condemned by the Nigerian Labour Congress as undemocratic
He said this is the right time labour leaders and the entire workforce should stand for what is right to move our country forward.
Comrade Ambassador Opu-oyibo Lilly-West accused the Rivers State Sole Administrator of impoverishing Rivers workers including the withholding of the monthly 2billion naira approved by Governor Sim Fubara for the payment of pension and gratuities to aged mothers and fathers who are dying in droves as a result of the refusal of the payment of the said gratuities.
Speaking further, the Director-General of Rivers Solidarity For Good Governance Comrade Ambassador Opu-oyibo Lilly-West said the Sole Administrator is acting in a manner to provoke Rivers people to anger and crises, citing the removal of Governor Sim Fubara\\\'s picture and replacing them with his own, and other activities as dangerous precedence
According to Lilly-West, the actions of the Sole Administrator indicates that he has began to see himself as the elected Governor of Rivers state which he is not, otherwise why the removal of the picture of an elected governor who is on a 6months suspension, has he terminated the governorship? he queried.
This is beyond the mandate of the Sole Administrator and its capable of igniting crises in the state, he warned.
Comrade Ambassador Opu-oyibo Lilly West therefore advised the Sole Administrator to desist from acts inimical to peace and rather maintain the existing peace in the state, even before his arrival, as Rivers people await the return of their governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara ##
