The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is set to inaugurate a wave of transformative projects across the region in celebration of President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office. Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the commission’s Managing Director, unveiled the plans during a quarterly staff meeting at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, urging employees to embrace renewed vigor in advancing the agency’s mission.
Highlighting recent successes, Ogbuku pointed to the “Light Up the Niger Delta” initiative—a solar streetlight project—and extensive road construction efforts as benchmarks of progress. “Our strides have earned recognition from President Tinubu and international bodies,” he declared, emphasizing that upcoming project launches in Delta, Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Bayelsa states will further cement the NDDC’s role as a catalyst for development.
The commission’s 25th-anniversary celebrations have already seen multiple inaugurations, with another round slated to begin this month. Ogbuku praised staff professionalism and collaboration with unions, crediting these dynamics for the NDDC’s operational harmony.
In a lighter moment, the meeting featured a raffle draw awarding staff prizes, including a three-bedroom house and a brand-new car—a nod to morale-boosting initiatives.
As the NDDC gears up for this new phase, Ogbuku reaffirmed the agency’s pledge to prioritize grassroots-impact projects, stating, “Our collective effort will ensure the Niger Delta’s growth mirrors the nation’s aspirations under President Tinubu’s leadership.”
