EFCC Arraigns Port Harcourt-Based Doctor Over Alleged ₦39.1m Visa Scam

A Port Harcourt-based medical doctor, Dr. Nekabari Dambere Nathan, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly defrauding clients of ₦39,157,000 under the guise of securing foreign visas and jobs.

Arraigned before Justice P.I. Ajoku at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on Thursday, June 19, 2025, Nathan and his company, Global Horizons Academy Ltd, are facing a one-count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and advance fee fraud.

The EFCC alleges that Nathan deceived the Managing Director of Riskout Consults and clients seeking opportunities in Canada, Ireland, and the U.S., but failed to deliver after collecting millions. He pleaded not guilty.

The case has been adjourned to June 25 for bail hearing and November 27 for trial commencement.
