The Chairman of Myetti Allah in Rivers State, Mohammed Tukur Abubakar, has cautioned cattle rearers against grazing on farmlands, stressing that any herder whose livestock damages crops must compensate the affected farmer.
Amid rising tensions over crop destruction in parts of the state, particularly Tai and Eleme LGAs, Tukur Abubakar announced plans to convene a peace meeting this weekend to address the reported clashes.
He urged both farmers and herders to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and clarified that the association works with cattle rearers, not herdsmen—a term he says is now widely associated with terrorism.
